From Bach to Bacharach, Bernstein to Mancini, Proteus 7 breathes new life into chamber music with their dynamic, creative and free-ranging approach to styles and repertoire. Proteus 7 is the first ensemble to mix this versatile and captivating combination of instruments, creating a new repertoire of original works and arrangements that highlight its unique strengths and abilities. Their programs and recordings are as diverse as their musical talents, balancing intricate works of Baroque masters in tandem with contemporary classical and jazz counterparts. The members of Proteus 7 include Anthony DiLorenzo and Geoffrey Hardcastle playing trumpet and flugelhorn; Paul McCandless on woodwinds; Hans Bohn and Scott Hartman on trombone; Matthew Gaunt on tuba; and Feza Zweifel, percussion. Each member has impeccable credentials. Anthony DiLorenzo has performed as a soloist with major symphony orchestras, is an Emmy Award winning composer, and is a graduate of the Curtis Institute. Paul McCandless was a member of the original Paul Winter Consort and specializes on the oboe, English horn, bass clarinet, soprano saxophone, and a collection of folk flutes. All of these musicians perform on Broadway, record for television and motion pictures, and can be heard in major concert halls throughout the world. As exclusive recording artists for Dorian Records, these seven musicians bring the tonal palette of a symphony orchestra, the excitement of a big band, and the intimacy of a chamber ensemble to both their recordings and their concerts. Together they combine their unique talents and artistry to create an extraordinary new sound.
